Knife Edge Drawings

During my stay in Vancouver Canada Last August I had the chance to visit the museum of Anthropology for the second time and I confess it is one of my very important  sources  of inspiration, if i can use the term inspiration .

the museum contains the art of Native Americans, north and south,

this time on my visit I was so focused on the very nature of the black line  , the style is based on the fact that the line would be curved deeper than the rest of the drawing using a curving knife.

that makes the stroke often carries the tension of  the knife edge, it feels totally different to the sensibility of brush stroke

since i came back and I’m developing lots of  ink on paper drawings which really refer to the knife edge drawing techniques ,

in the slide below there are some of my favorite drawings that came out of that

size is 40x60cm

also if you  would like to have some of them you can visit my studio over the week  AS THEY ARE VERY AFFORDABLE  (£50 each, unframed )

cheers
