In June I will be presenting ‘Black Books,’ an exhibition of artist books and a selection of meditative Zen drawings.
The Black Books is an ongoing project of dramatic ink drawings in books that I’ve been producing since May 2010. There are 49 books in the series to date, all hand drawn. They form a diary, an interplay between the conscious and unconscious mind, reflecting my technical, aesthetic and intellectual concerns about art and life.
I am pleased to present ‘Black Books’ in the historic surrounds of Westminster Reference Library, alongside its huge collection of over 40,000 books on theatre, art and design. It’s the biggest single art, design and theatre collection in London, and it’s just behind the Nation Gallery/National Portrait Galley in the heart of London’s West End Theatreland.
