“Black Books” the Zen Drawing performance

My Zen drawing combines influences and techniques from my study of Arabic calligraphy and my interest in both Zen and Sufism, and my observation of Japanese calligraphy. it is about the experience of the body mark making, and about the balance between control and freedom.

I made  a demonstration in the Westminster Art and Design Library on 21 June, stretching a sheet the length of one of the rooms, and made a 20 min performance using black and red ink.
